Sometimes it can feel like quite the undertaking to find a home that affords you the ability to spend quality time outdoors without sacrificing the conveniences of essential amenities close to home. Thankfully, when you decide to make Thomas Meeting Apartments your home, you’ll find that there are plenty of outdoor activities in Chester County to keep yourself content. Plus, all that you could need on the homefront is well within close driving distance.

For the outdoors enthusiasts, who appreciate a night wrapped in the sweet embrace of nature as much as in the warmth of a soft blanket at home, not far from our apartments you’ll find two stunning state parks that are the perfect escape: Marsh Creek State Park and French Creek State Park.

Marsh Creek State Park

At a respectable 1,727 acres, this place is just a 15-minute drive from Thomas Meeting Apartments, making it the easiest of the parks to spend some time, whether it’s planned out or on a whim. For a more leisurely afternoon at the park, there are more than 150 picnic tables scattered throughout, free use while you enjoy an afternoon snack or meal. (Charcoal grill are also available.) But for the more active, you can take to the more than 18 miles of hiking trails or 11-plus miles suited for mountain biking. If you fancy yourself an equestrian, you can even sign up for horseback riding lessons with Hope Springs Farm. In the cooler months, cross-country skiing is a popular sport, as is ice skating. However, be forewarned that ice thickness is not actively monitored.

French Creek State Park

Though a bit further away (but still only a 30 minutes’ drive), this is a much more expansive park, at 7,730 acres. Here, you’ll find more than 30 miles worth of trails that can be used for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or even cross-country skiing during winter months. Though it’s close to home, if you want to spend the night, there are more than 200 sites that can accommodate both tents and campers. And for fans of watersports, Hopewell Lake stretches across 68 acres of the park and is ideal for swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and more.

At the end of the day, finding outdoor activities in Chester County is not a difficult undertaking. The real challenge is deciding which activity you want to start with first.
